Mordecai makes its debut with a transversal SS24 collection. Established by Ludovico Bruno in Milan, the project sets out to revitalize the menswear landscape beyond traditional dogma and seasonal structures. In a silhouette-driven approach, Bruno applies the codes of technical sportswear to washed canvas, fine wool and matte nylon – light, versatile garments enabled by functional detail and sophisticated construction. Most of the collection is produced in Italy by Hostage.
The collections’ 20 distinct, layered looks, push boundaries of both function and form with approachable intent. Shapes of men’s wardrobe essentials like the hooded sweatshirt and buttoned jacket, along military cargos and martial arts inspired kimonos, morph through adjustable drawstrings, reversible elements, pleats and down filling. The result is unprecedented garments that border recognisable style but inhabit completely novel territory – a new canon of modern menswear informed by bodies, comfort and technique rather than trend, content and brand.
Mordecai presents a comprehensive and versatile wardrobe of all conditions streetwear in a three-step range – from essentials to skewed to conceptual pieces. Combinations of light outerwear in parachute grade cotton and nylon, merino, mohair and cashmere knitwear, waxed poplin shirting and jackets, washed canvas cargos, and fully fashioned jersey and socks layer effortlessly in rigid, yet open-ended ensembles.
Designer and creative director, Ludovico Bruno, former head of design at Moncler Genius and ongoing creative consultant of Ambush by Yoon Ahn, launched Mordecai to provide an alternative in the fashion panorama for a new breed of clientele – seeking timelessness and durability at an intersection of sport, work, street and formal-wear.
